Furoshiki & the shopping bag.

I’m delighted that I found these Furoshiki instructions
created by the Government of Japan!
A poetic and traditional way to reduce wastes using a foulard or similar to carry all kinds of things.
But if you are not too good at origami, you can always buy this fantastic Packrat bag at Lomo.
A great shopping bag indeed!

Lagerfeld Confidentiel
Two weeks ago I saw Lagerfeld
Confidentiel, liked the documentary
very much... the character is more similar to Andy
Warhol than I previously thought!
Uploaded to YouTube a clip from a Chanel fashion show that really impressed me on the film.
Karl saw it in his dreams, every single detail, then he brought it to reality.
Beautiful.
Have a nice Sunday!

David Shrigley
Today at Centre d’Art Santa Monica is starting a
David Shrigley’s exhibition.
I really like this man and totally adore the Worried Noodles book (and the album performed by tons of talented artists!)
Well, nothing else to say...if you are in Barcelona don’t miss the exhibition please, it will make you a nicer person ;)
*The video is Grizzly Bear’s contribution to Worried Noodles.

I think this is the right moment to introduce
Copo, our beloved cat...I took this
picture in my home studio while I was trying to tidy
up...
he organized himself in a minute ;)
Well, I wrote this “cat intro” to talk about a great post I read at The Modern Cat, a fantastic japanese cat-friendly house!
I love when architecture and design humanize theirselves enough to produce hybrids like this.

Human aesthetics
21/10/08 09:40 Filed in: my projects
Yesterday we sent the first samples from our handmade
designed wallpaper Topo Azul to clients. I’m
extremely happy with the finishes and quality
after using a first-class ecologic “woven non
woven” paper (really easy to apply!). I
took some macro pictures from the wallpaper for
you to see the amazing slightly irregular
texture.
note: the pictures are a little bit dark for you to see the texture... wallpaper background is off-white (not so greyish!).

I believe in “human branding” I don’t believe in “corporate” as we know it anymore. I truly believe in handmade things, in customizing, in DIY aesthetics, in “on demand” production, in human nature at the end... I guess sometimes “perfect factory finishes” are quite boring and dull. That’s why even Pattern Tales® stationary is handmade crafted via block printing!
I pasted below two pictures: golden thank you notes on the left and “Topo Azul” samples on the right.

I feel this is the beginning of a neo-humanism era and a neo-crafting time indeed!
Guess I can only finish this neo-hippy tuesday morning post with this phrase:
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
;)

Back to Barcelona + Great long songs
19/10/08 21:04 Filed in: music!
Sorry didn’t post these days, I’ve been on a trip
(two pictures below).

---
While I was on the train back to Barcelona yesterday I got noticed about how much I get addicted to long songs...
I was playing over and over “Calvary Scars II / Aux Out” by Deerhunter and then came to my mind some of my favourite songs above 5 minutes...
Some examples:
Calvary Scars II / Aux Out - Deerhunter (10:12)
No conclusion - of Montreal (9:42)
Melody of a fallen tree - Windsor for the Derby (8:16)
I’m still in love (12 inch mix) - Marcia Aitken (7:10)
Hurricane - Bob Dylan (8:33)
Heroin - The Velvet Underground (8:15)
Emily - Joanna Newsom (12:08)
The Purple Bottle - Animal Collective (6:48)
On a nerve - Vetiver (7:39)
Tiger Trap - Beat Happening (6:53)
Mundo, demonio y carne - Los Brincos (12:22)
House of jealous lovers - The Rapture (5:02)
pd: in this list I’m not mentioning any post-rock nor electronic songs as the lenght comparison would be unfair.
**I created on LastFM a playlist with some of the songs in case you want to check them out ;)

How could I’ve lived without seeing this!? OMG!
I’m on an detox ayurvedic diet that is 95% vegan, so I read lots of blogs about vegan food with recipes that are amazing (I’ll post about them soon)... but when I saw these marvellous cute-as-hell-cupcakes on Vegan Yum Yum I fell in love. :)
The knit stuff is made of marzipan, and here you can check some tutorials to do it at home!

I don't use to watch TV...but yesterday I did, and I
saw a documentary about Las Pozas, a surrealistic
-and huge- “eden garden” in the middle of the
Mexico jungle created by poet/humanist Edward James.
I became inmediately captivated by the beauty of it... isn’t it astonishing?

Shunka is a must in the city
I know, but this week the same owners opened a
luxurious brother for him: Koy
Shunka (Copons 7. Gothic quarter.
Barcelona)
I’m on a detox ayurvedic diet so I haven’t tried it yet, but I must confess I hear it calling me!
Anyway, this reminded my something; years ago I saw a fantastic and really funny video explaining “how to eat sushi”, if you haven’t seen it check it out please.

Sunday meditation
05/10/08 17:42 Filed in: le cinema
I wanted to post today a little bit from the new
drawings I’ve been doing these days, but my scanner
has decided he doesn’t want to work more and all the
images are appearing with lots of lines and glitches.
:/ So, in the meantime while I buy a new one I’ll
talk a little bit about David Lynch.
Last week my boyfriend and I started watching Twin Peaks again, we are total fans (the greatest Lynch masterpiece!).
The series is full of amazing characters, but Agent Dale Cooper is a deeply brilliant one by the zen/positive view of life itself, his intuition and heterodoxal methods he uses to solve the cases and many other things, I think only an awaken spiritual person can communicate this sensation with little details on TV.
Maybe you know how deep is David Lynch into trascendental meditation or maybe not... the video I paste below is an introduction to meditation by him.
and here’s one of our favourite Twin Peaks scenes...
...and have good sunday*

Aquarium Tarot by David Palladini
04/10/08 10:31 Filed in: art
While checking the MediaTemple stadistics about Pop
Pervert and Alan The Gallant I arrived to
The Catalyst a blog by Jenny,
a design addict lady based in LA. She posted two
pictures from a tarot created on 1970 by David
Palladini, these images caught my eye profoundly
as I love “the psychedelic era”... the
illustrations, the music... ( did I recommend
you an amazing psychedelic pop compilation
called Hallucinations? it’s
been “a must” in my recommended discography for
years to get introduced into psych-pop
;)
