Cassete Tape wallets

Last week received an email from Greta and Isla, two finnish
designers who have designed wallets from
cassette tapes.
They want me to ask you how much would you pay for these beautiful recycled wallets...

Someone said 20€? Make your bids and tell them.
It's a pity that last week I already bought a new owl wallet for me at H&M...

The other day watched “Rivers and Tides” a documentary by artist Andy Goldsworthy.
We were amazed by the beauty of the images and it reminded me how much I love land art (and environmental art).

Below a some of the classics...

Spiral Jetty by Robert Smithson (1970) The Icon.
Displacements by Robert Smithson.

Christo and Jeanne Claude. Early Works+Surrounded Islands.

Walter de Maria: Lightning Field on the left, NYC Earth Room on the right.
and remember: I don’t care if Monday is blue, Tuesday is great and Wednesday too...

Phonofone, the most beautiful amp (with no batt required).

I love this amazing ceramic amplifier designed by Science and Sons...
Below a “how it works” explanation taken from their website:
“Without the use of external power or batteries, the Phonofone inventively exploits the virtues of horn acoustics to boost the audio output of standard earphones to up to 55 decibles* (or roughly the maximum volume of laptop speakers). Upon connecting active earphones to the Phonofone their trebly buzzing is instantly and profoundly transformed into a warm, rich and resonant sound.”
“The Phonofone is constructed entirely from ceramic. Not only environmentally low impact, ceramics are inherently rigid and resonant, lending themselves well to this application.”

Roller skates in the movies
I like roller skates very much, haven’t used them
for years as now I’m a bike and walk person but admit
they have a kind of retro-kitsch feel that I totally
adore.
Below a roller skate selection on the screen!
Xanadu (1980)
Ohhh... iconic.
------------------------
Roller Boogie (1979)
Amazing movie! Look at The Rapture’s video inspired on this film... groooovy!
-----------------------
Skatetown, USA (1979)
Love on wheels, cheesy outfits and Patrick Swayze on a leather waistcoat!
---------------------
It’s always fair weather (1955)
Gene Kelly tap dancing on roller skates is amazing!
------------------------
Unholy Rollers (1972)
Playmate Claudia Jennings as a skating goddess.
-------------------
and my beloved Anna Karina singing Je suis la rollergirl on Anna (1967)

I’m TOTALLY AMAZED with his book “Kaleidoscope: ornements abstraits” -circa 1925?-.

Radio tower+temporary city lights
Yesterday attended to the Cildo Meireles exhibition at
MACBA and got crazy about Babel (the
radio tower you can see below), in the whole
exhibition space the only lights were the ones
from the transistor radios and the sound was a
crazy mix of all the cassettes, radio stations
and so on...
After MACBA went to another museum, but in the middle of the walk I got surprised again by these temporary city lights The Barcelona Council has installed in Ronda Sant Antoni. They are so strange that I can’t even describe them... all kind of materials mixed (concrete, wood, plastic, metal...), they are so not-designed that seem really modern indeed!
